Welcome from Mrs. Smith

Dear Middletown Springs Elementary School Families,

It is with great enthusiasm that I write this letter of introduction to you as the new principal of Middletown Springs Elementary School.  I feel incredibly fortunate to be joining the Middletown school and community.

I started my education journey over 15 years ago, first as a paraeducator, substitute and preschool teacher, and then an elementary classroom teacher.  I spent 11 years teaching 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades with my last 7 years spent at Proctor Elementary School.  I left the classroom to become an instructional coach for the Greater Rutland County Supervisory Union, and I have spent the last four years in this role.  During the past two years, I have had the pleasure of working with the Middletown Springs Elementary staff as their instructional coach.  This allowed me the opportunity to get to know the staff, students, and the wonderful opportunities that Middletown provides.

When I am not working, I am spending time with my husband, Tim, my two sons, Andrew and Maxten, and our dog, Ollivander (yes, the wandmaker for you Harry Potter fans).  We enjoy traveling together and are working our way through the states and national parks.  In addition to traveling, our family loves soccer.  Both of our boys are dedicated players, Andrew for Fair Haven High School and Max for Fair Haven Middle School, and our weekend mornings are often filled with a Premier League game on the TV.

I will be working at the school off and on throughout the summer and welcome you to stop by to say hello.  Feel free to email or call to see if I am in.  I am looking forward to the upcoming school year and getting to know all of you.

Enjoy the remaining days of summer!

Kind regards,

Corey Smith
